Ocelots Move Into First Place With A Road Win

MUSKEGON, Mi – The Ocelots hit the road on Wednesday to face off against a Muskegon Jayhawks team who was 3-1 in conference play and 5-3 overall. The match was played at Grand Haven High School.

Schoolcraft would come out of the gate looking to make a statement. Posting 10 shots in the 1st half and not allowing a shot to the Jayhawks, they would do that. However, the game would stay at a stalemate until the 35th minute. Following a Jayhawk foul, Nikolas Nareike would step up and capitalize on a free kick from just outside of the box. Just before the half would end. Kevaughn Harris would get his 1st goal of the game to put Schoolcraft up 2-0 going into the half.

Shortly into the 2nd half, Muskegon would be shown a red card, but it would take until the 71st minute for Schoolcraft to capitalize on it. Harris would score his 2nd and Schoolcraft's final goal of the game in the 71st minute.

For the game, Schoolcraft would outshoot the Jayhawks 20-1 but would not succumb to a shot on goal as Alexander Heitsch would get the start and win in goal without having to make a save.

Schoolcraft returns to the pitch on Friday traveling to Grand Rapids to take on the Raiders. Schoolcraft enters the match with a 4-0-1 conference record while Grand Rapids will have a 3-1-1 record. The 2 teams faced off in a nonconference match earlier in the year with Schoolcraft coming out on top 4-0.
