Six Ocelots Receive Honors
LIVONIA, MI – The MCCAA and NJCAA Region 12 announced their 2025 baseball season awards. Receiving honors from the Ocelots were-
Owen Elsey: Elsey would be placed on the All-Region team, All-MCCAA and Eastern Conference 1st team. For the season, Elsey would hit .391 with a .504 OBP and a .555 SLG. Elsey would log 33 RBI's, 28 runs scored as well as working 26 walks to only 16 strikeouts. On the mound for the Ocelots, he would start 10 games, working a 5-2 record while having only a 2.25 ERA with 46 K's in 56 innings of work and only 13 walks.
Noah McCann: The freshman catcher for the Ocelots would be named to the Eastern Conference 2nd team. On the season, McCann would play in 41 games while slashing .328/.473/.466. The freshman would drive in 21 RBI's while crossing the plate 25 times. His 14 extra base hits, 10 doubles and 4 triples, would rank 2nd on the team only 1 behind Elsey. Behind the plate, McCann would catch potential base stealers 38.1% of the time.
Alex Stepaniak: The freshman right-hander would be named to the Eastern Conference Honorable-Mention team. In his first season back from a Tommy-John surgery, Stepaniak would make 7 appearances for the Ocelots while making 5 starts. In the 29.1 innings of work, Alex would record a 3.07 ERA while registering a 2-2 record. Stepaniak would boast a team best 1.09 WHIP by allowing 26 hits and only giving up 6 walks.
Braylon Schroeder: The freshman shortstop would be named to the Eastern Conference Honorable-Mention team. In 41 games and 139 at-bats, Schroeder would slash .338/.408/.446. Schroeder's 28 RBI's would rank 2nd on the team and his 32 runs scored would be good enough to lead the team.
Dominic Westfall: the sophomore C/1st Baseman would be named to the Eastern Conference Honorable-Mention Team. Westfall would see action in 43 games and slash .312/.403/.344 in 125 at-bats. Westfall would log 24 RBI's while working 12 walks and striking out only 12 times. Westfall would also appear in 6 games on the mound, making 4 starts and working a 2-0 record.
Abel Gutierrez: The sophomore utility man would be named to the Eastern Conference Honorable-Mention Team. Gutierrez would log 85 at-bats over 43 games and slash .306/.450/.388. Gutierrez would score 18 runs and drive in 22 runs. He would also appear in 9 games on the mound, logging 17.2 innings while saving 1 game.
