Ocelots Split DH With Edison State

PIQUA, OH – The Ocelots baseball team headed into the Buckeye state for a nonconference doubleheader against Edison State.

Game 1- The bats would come alive early as the Ocelots would gain the lead right off the rip. A Bryalon Schroder double would give Schoolcraft the lead before Shane Carnes would single to extend their early lead. In the 4^th inning, Schoolcraft would extend their lead to 7-1. Issander Vega would single home a run but the big blow to the Chargers would come from Schroeder, again, as he would hit his 1^st home run of the year.

Ocelots pitching would hold the Chargers offense to just 2 hits as Andrew Frederick, Cameron Brewer, Nate Morse, Riley Jones, Simon Shimel and Abel Gutierrez would all combine for 7 innings, 2 hits and 4 earned runs.

Game 2- Schoolcraft would once again score in the 1^st inning as they would score off an Edison State error. However, the Chargers would bounce back in a big way, scoring 6 runs in the bottom half. The Ocelots would try their best to make a comeback but the 13-4 deficit in the 4^th inning would be too much. Outscoring the Chargers 7-0 throughout the final 3 innings would allow the game to get closer.

Brady Sauer paced the offense with a team-high 3 hits followed by Kayvon Justice with 2 hits, including a triple.

Schoolcraft returns to conference play on Thursday as they welcome Mott Community College to the Corner Ballpark for a single 9-inning game.
