4 Ocelots Earn Conference Awards

LIVONIA, Mi - The 2024 MCCAA baseball awards dropped with 4 Ocelots earning their name on the release. 

Philip MillerThe left-handed sophomore pitcher found his name on the Eastern Conference 2nd Team list. In 2024, Miller would lead the Ocelots with 63.2 innings pitched while starting 11 games and racking up 66 strikeouts. Miller would go 4-4 on the season with his final start being his best. On May 2nd against Henry Ford, Miller would throw 6 scoreless innings, striking out 4, on his way to earning the victory. His 4.66 ERA would be 2nd best on the team out of qualified pitchers.

Tashawn EatmonThe freshman centerfielder found himself on the Eastern Conference 2nd team, with Miller, but also on the Eastern Conference All-Freshman team. Eatmon would lead the team in hitting, with an average of .377, and stolen bases. His 27 stolen bases would rank 6th in the conference. Tashawn would hit his first career home run on April 14 at Macomb. 

Sawyer PaceSawyer Pace found himself receiving honors, just like last year. Pace's .339 average, good for 2nd on the team, would see his name on the Eastern Conference Honorable Mention list. Leading the team in RBI's, 34, Pace would also walk, 20, more times than he would strike out, 17. Pace would also steal 24 bags, good for 3rd on the team and 9th in the conference. In conference play, Pace would hit .389 with a .511 OBP and a .486 slugging percentage. 

Owen ElseyLike Pace, Owen Elsey would find his name on the Eastern Conference Honorable Mention list. Elsey would hit .303 on the season with a .403 OBP and a .410 slugging percentage. Elsey's first career home run would come in a 7-4 win over Edison State on March 12. His .303 average would be aided by a season high 7 game hitting streak in which he would register 10 hits over the 7-game stretch from April 14-April 20.
